Disability project

The 174 Trust is committed to integrating able-bodied and disabled people through a wide range of activities including:

Disability project

Junior Club:

The club currently has 16 children with either a physical or learning disability.  The club provides a social & leisure outlet for these kids who would not normally have the opportunity to take part in a club. The club meets every Wednesday evening with the aim being the integration of able-bodied and disabled children through activities ranging from sports, arts, outings and games in our Hall.

Youth club:

The youth club has 10 members again with a physical or learning disability. The club meets every Tuesday evening .The club is vital to these teenagers as they want to be out in the evenings just like their peers but because of their disabilities this can be very difficult for them.

Adult club:

The club meets every Thursday evening.  The adults enjoy bingo, meals at restaurant, Health awareness nights and gardening in our purpose built garden.

Nomo Club:

The club meets every second Thursay.,  This club provides much needed respite to children aged 9 – 13 years old who are currently caring for  a disabled parent/sibling.

YCAP Club:

The club meets every Wednesday evening.  This club provides respite and support for children aged 14 – 21 years old who are currently caring for a disabled parent/sibling.  These teenagers also have the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh awards.

All of the above  clubs provide respite for families and carers.  As well as respite the clubs provide emotional and advocacy support for children and their parents.  We offer home visits and have weekly support with all our parents facilitated by our team of trained staff and volunteers, who as well as providing practical help also provide a listening ear.

The clubs are integrated and have children involved who do not have a disability thus promoting inclusion and positive attitudes around respecting differences.
