The Duncairn is a community arts centre in North Belfast and part of 174 Trust. It's a shared space where people come to listen, make, learn and take part, and everyone is welcome.

A space that belongs to everyone
Since 2014, The Duncairn has worked to be a genuinely shared space. We're rooted in the communities around us, and our doors are open to anyone.
We believe culture can bring people together, start conversations, build confidence and help us understand one another a little better.
So we shape our programme alongside local residents, community groups, artists and partners. We'd love people not just to come to events, but to take part, share ideas and feel that The Duncairn belongs to them.
Many of our events are free or pay what you can, and our classes and workshops are kept low cost all year round.
Live at The Duncairn
Live performance is at the centre of our programme. Our 170-seat theatre hosts traditional and contemporary music, theatre, poetry, spoken word, literature and special performances throughout the year.
Established and internationally renowned artists share the stage with emerging performers. The intimacy of the theatre gives every show a relaxed, personal feel that has become part of The Duncairn experience.

Community at our heart
The Duncairn grew out of the community work of 174 Trust, and that connection still shapes who we are.
Every week, people come through the building for arts activities alongside childcare, disability clubs, education, community support and other services. That mix means the arts are part of everyday community life, not something set apart from it.
We work hard to create chances for people from different backgrounds, traditions, generations and experiences to meet, through music, art, food, conversation and making things together.

Across Belfast
Our work reaches well beyond our own building. When Belfast hosted Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in summer 2026, we worked with artists, community groups and venues to bring the festival into neighbourhoods right across the city.
